THE STORY OF THE TOY

These toys, lost and forgotten, each took a life on their own. Once used as gifts for their loved ones, or maybe they were just used to keep them occupied. All I know is that toys like these were once used by kids all over the world - to tell their own story with their own imaginations. Today, these toys are forgotten. As we get older we forget about these little things and how much they meant to us before. I wanted to tell a new story. I wanted to bring back meaning to the “toy”. I wanted to find use for them. Painted in a stark silver, I collected every single toy I could find that no one used anymore, and repurposed them to find new use. I wanted to “freeze” them in time. Timeless pieces, stuck in their own famous poses, yearning to be used once again. I wanted to create a piece that you can put in the corner of a room, to remind yourself the value that these toys once had in your life, and as a work of art to create a statement. This is The Story of the Toy.
